Easter Egg Hunt

On Wednesday afternoon we participated in an Easter egg hunt on the lawn of the courthouse square. It was organized by our children's librarian, Ms. Angel, so we knew most of the kids that were there. Griffin was actually coming down with a terrible cold (I think that we have had a cold once a month since we moved here!!!) and probably we should have skipped it. He was so looking forward to it, we trooped down there anyways. He ended up having a great time and then sleeping all afternoon - yeah, every one's happy!

Griffin and his best bud, Jacob, were ready to go. They both got a good start on filling their baskets but then they found a ladybug and hunting for candy came to a screeching halt.

In the end Griffin ended up with like 100+ pieces of candy - who knows what I'll do with it! Because he hasn't felt well, he's only eaten 2 or 3 pieces since.
Even the little sisters had a great time watching the controlled chaos and checking out the Easter Bunny that had made an appearance. Fun for all!

looks like a fun time. I'm so jealous of your green grass and warmer weather. i know ours is coming but not for another month or so. so sorry to hear griff is sick again. that is nuts! love his longer hair, super cute and different than what he's had the last 4 yrs.
have a fun easter weekend. any plans? or visitors?

I think his hair looks like Jake's now! I really like it too. I figured it was time for something a little different now that he is going to be a big 5 year old, so I let it grow out all winter long until we could get it cut into a different "style". We just got past the stickin' up in the back phase.
Bruce is on call this weekend so we will be sticking close to home - hopefully it will be sunny and we can start to get the outside toys set up. I'll let you know!

I have to say,  Bruce and I totally knocked ourselves out to throw Lucy the best Dr. Seuss 4th birthday party that we could and I am pretty proud of the results!  It was a wonderful day for her and hopefully for all her friends that came. Our kids have LOVED the story The Lorax for a while now and were so excited to go see the movie.  Bruce had a brilliant idea to make his own truffula trees .  With some PVC pipe and spray paint he put these together.  I made the tops out of tissue paper (tutorials widely available).  Of course, once I got started on them, I just had to make some extras to hang around the dining room.  I used the extra paper to make a super colorful one for the front porch.  These were so easy and cheap to make, I highly recommend them as party decorations for all different types of themes!   I printed out some of my favorite Dr. Seuss quotes and gussied them up with some fancy paper cutters (Thanks, Lisa!)  and hung them around the dining room

This is Big Poppa filling in for Mama Gast. I wanted to show a couple pictures of one of the most wonderful things to happen in our lives. She's an 8lb. 11oz. reminder that there is such a thing as perfection in the world. Griffin is 20 today.

I can't believe we've arrived here...I can't believe I am old enough to have a 20 year old son!  He is a full grown adult and absolutely living life his own way, on his own terms and doing it quite well.  Griffin is living in a small town in Germany with his girlfriend and 2 cats.  He is currently in a nursing program that also allows him to work in their local hospital (his school/work life is completely in German!)  He's been able to spend some time traveling around Germany, exploring his community, and forming lovely connections with his girlfriend's family.  While we miss him so very much, we are so proud of him and the way he is making it happen.  And of course, hoping for a visit very soon!  Happy Birthday, Griffin.  We love you!
