From Darth Vader and the Ladybug Girl Our trick-or-treating was last night. We joined up with our friends Jacob (some sort of Ben 10 alien thingy...didn't catch the name) and Carly (do you LOVE that they are dressed alike?? I do!!) They had a really awesome time together. We ended the night with popcorn, candy and watching the Gremlins movie. A great SCARY family night. Hope y'all have a great and safe night!

She even has a ribbon to prove it!

Today is the 50th day of school so Griffin's teacher is throwing a 50's party. All the girls will wear poodle skirts and the boys borrowed the leather jackets. Griffin was really excited about it this morning and I love that he is so happy to go to school!

Hi friends. It has been a while since I've had a sewing post. Don't worry, I haven't abandoned my machine, in fact, it gets lots of use almost every day. For a while I was making the same things over and over and over...you get the point, to build up supply for Thread Head. I also have a hugely time consuming TOP SECRET project in the works, so alas, no pictures of that one yet. But this is something I am excited to share, I made my own meditation cushion. It is made out of cotton duck cloth, filled with buckwheat hulls and I even managed to put a little handle on it. You know, for the meditation practitioner on the go! I really love it, and it has really helped me to be more comfortable while meditating, there by deepening my practice. For the last couple of years, in regards to my spirituality I have considered myself a Seeker. I have done a lot of reading, thinking and absorbing of different religious beliefs and practices. I have such a strong background i

We had an awesome day yesterday. We started by meeting up with my Herb Club pals at our friend's vineyard for a picnic and some wine tasting...and live music in the vines. It was an awesome warm fall day and we all had a super good time. We got home with just enough time for Griffin to put on his Halloween costume and head over for his pal Jayda's Halloween party. He had an awesome time there, playing lots of games and having a ton of treats. We picked him up, had him change in the car and headed over to our local Red Cross' first annual Ghost Walk. Our friend Holly who works for the Red Cross did an awesome job putting this event together. We met at a parking lot that was full of fun stuff for kids to do and set off from there on a walk around the neighborhood to 4 different houses. On the steps of each house was a story teller who entertained our kids with all different kinds of ghost stories. It was so so FUN! Griffin totally got into it. All night he kept s

I am taking yoga and meditation classes weekly (much more on that in a future post) and my teacher has introduced me to a ton of new music. Who knew there was Yoga hip hop?? This is my favorite from MC Yogi.

Can you believe there is no place in this town to buy a NY Times??

On Saturday night, Bruce and I went on a SUPER awesome date! We attended the first annual Hilltop Dinner and Dance in Knoxville. It was on the property of a historic home and absolutley lovely. There were 3 bands, one square dancing and two swing bands. There were tons of people there dancing and having a wonderful time. It was decorated to perfection and the sunset was absolutely gorgeous...uber romantic. Anybody want to join us next year???

Griffin and Bruce both got to go horse back riding for the FIRST TIME EVER, last Saturday with my Dad. Dad had brought up the idea last summer and when he found out that Bruce and Griffin had never had a chance to go riding he made it happen at the earliest possible time. Here Griffin is looking a little dazed and scared, but he ended up having an AMAZING time and can't wait to ride again. His look here is exactly how I felt. Gotta admit it, I was nervous to have him up there on a horse alone but the awesome trail guide assured me it was safe and that they let kids as young as 4 ride alone. His horse was Champ, Bruce's was Magic and Dad's was, much to all of our amusement , Lexie. It was a gorgeous sunny fall day in the Smokey Mountains, a really perfect day to ride through the forest. They took an hour long ride and had a perfect time. My Dad was excited that it was the Davey Crockett stables as that was one of his favorite movies growing up. He even got the m

Lucy is getting to that magic FUN age that includes ease of portability. She is starting to become really engaged in what is happening around her. She is growing sturdy little legs that keep her up and running all over the place. And best of all, using public potties!! I am eager to start taking her more places!! On Monday we headed out to our local zoo with our friends Mandy, Carly, Brandi and Myles. It is a pretty small zoo, perfect for 3, 2 year olds, on a perfect fall morning. All the kids had a really great time and had so much fun together. So did the Moms!!! We had many laughs together, it was a really joyful day. We can't wait to take more adventures with this group! Do you see the Mama Jaguar and 2 cubs behind us?

Celebrating October

Well, the event I attended this weekend did not work out so well for Thread Head, not the right venue for me, I guess. It was a bummer considering all the work I did in preparation, BUT the extremely bright side was that is freed me up to enjoy Sunday with my family. It was a perfect fall day and we headed out to our favorite local pumpkin patch. What a phenomenal day. It was a great day to pull the camera out and snap a few (or a TON) of photos!
