Date Night

Things are going really well here in snowy Michigan. We have had a GREAT weekend. First of all, like a dummy, I forgot to put a diaper on Griffin before I put him to bed on Thursday night (no, I had not cracked open a bottle of wine yet!) And ***insert drum roll here*** he woke up DRY! Yeah!! He was so proud of himself and said that he was done with diapers forever. We have not put one on since though he has had a few accidents at nap time. We are getting close to being totally done with potty training and I couldn't be more proud of my little dude.

Bruce and I were able to go on a date Saturday night. It had been a LONG time since we had been out alone and we really enjoyed ourselves. It was only possible because of our fantastic friends, the Webber family, kept Griffin overnight. Thanks guys!!! Bruce and I had a great dinner out and had so much fun dreaming about all the things this year is going to bring, discussing what locations are the top choices for moving to, what our next house and neighborhood should be like. We are on the verge of something big here and it is very exciting. We then checked out a little place called the Good Vibration Wine Bar. It was a cool little place with a great wine list. They also sold fancy cigars to smoke there. We had a really good time.

The absolute highlight was the band that was playing there, Brazil and Beyond. They play Brazilian classics although they recently won an award in the Detroit Music Awards for a CD they made of Beatles tunes set to Brazilian rhythms. One of the musicians was playing a cavaquinho, which a looks like a very small guitar, and makes a very beautiful and striking sound. We also were able to hear "The Girl From Ipanema" live for the first time in our lives!

On Sunday we met with the dude who is going to be our agent and help us sell our house. It was a great meeting, he was able to give lots of insight as far as what needs to be done to get the house ready to sell and what we can just leave be. Turns out we were being pretty realistic about how much we can sell the house for, so that is positive. Our goal is to have the sign in the yard by the first weekend in April. That will be a busy time since I am going to Germany March 19 - 30th, during Bruce's spring break, to meet my little niece. Before I go I will need to have much of my bric-a-brac packed up, all the drawers and closets cleaned out and the walls prepared for fresh paint. We are leaving the mural in Griffin's room...I just can't bear to cover it up! We wrapped up the weekend with a trip to our favorite Middle Eastern restaurant for some lentil curry soup, fatoush, hummus and kebab with the Moms. It will be the last time we see them for a while since they are off for Peru and Ecuador in a couple of days for the trip of a lifetime.
I'll post some pictures of Griffin in the snow soon, I promise!
