"Country roads, take me home, to the place, I belooonnnnggggg......"
We are home from our big road trip to Kentucky. If there is one thing we are really good at, it is road tripping and Griffin has really gotten with the program. We had a really smooth (albeit long...Bruce has a thing for taking the "back roads" and having to trade in our rental car for another in Ann Arbor due to some funky smoke coming out of it) drive down and back from Madisonville, Kentucky. We LOVE LOVE LOVE it! The town itself is small, OK, tiny...minuscule really. BUT, what it lacks for in size it makes up with in friendliness and accessibility. The town offers all the necessities including a state of the art medical facility. Bruce really enjoyed his interview and would be very happy to work there. He got along really well with all his possible co-workers (his would-be boss makes mandolins in his spare time) and he believes the hospital would offer him exciting challenges. They also have a gorgeous city park that offers a great playground, pool, lake, sporting facilities, golf course and amphitheatre.
What we really loved though, was the southern hospitality and WIDE OPEN SPACES.

The area is very hilly, with many trees mixing it up with fields of vegetables and lots of small lakes. It is only about and hour and twenty from Nashville, so we could get to big town benefits whenever we needed them. We could really see ourselves relocating here. We were able to look at some houses with an agent and it seems like there are a lot of different housing possibilities for us. Everyone keep their fingers and toes crossed that the hospital staff likes Bruce as much as we love their community.

If they offer the job to Bruce, and we accept, things are going to happen very quickly. It is such a strange time for us, our hearts our tied up tightly here in Michigan with many beloved friends and family and we want to enjoy all the time we have here. The flip side is, we are starting to feel the "this may be the last time to do this/hang out with these people for awhile" vibe... yet nothing is set in stone. Who knows, we may be living here in Michigan for some time yet while we continue the job search. It is an odd perch to land on but we are trying to live each moment at a time, enjoy living today here and now. The only stormy cloud in our skies now is our house here in Michigan. We have had it on the market for MONTHS and have had virtually no interest in it. We need all you friends out there to be praying for it to sell. So, that is the news that is. I apologize to those of you who we haven't talked to/hung out with for a while. We have been in a whirlwind for what seems like weeks but we are back home now and hopefully will be reconnecting with y'all soon.
