We had an awesome time last Friday at the finale of the summer reading program. First, there was a concert by Rick Rayburn that the kids LOVED!! He played lots of fun songs and really go them up and dancing. Griffin and Lucy were so happy to have all their good friends their too! Griffin was totally in his element with his best buddy Jacob, and his two new best girl friends Madeline and Jenna. Lucy, Gabe and Carli joined right in too!
Afterwards, Ms. Angel started handing out prizes and Griffin won, TWICE! He was so excited to get tickets to Holiday World (a local amusement park/water park) and a ball/catch toy that will be great to take to the beach. The topper for the evening was definitely when Ms. Angel got slimed...the kids thought that was AWESOME!

Afterward we were able to chat with some friends and go to dinner with another family, overall a great night for everyone!

I love that both G&L are groovin' to the music with their friends. And I am lovin' your water backdrop somethin' fierce. Makes me wanna jump right in. 4 more days lovelies :)

I watched the video of Griff dancing like four times....cutest/funniest thing I've seen in a while!! can't wait dance with him soon!!

Love it! I showed the video to Alethia...she watched it about five times asking me questions after each time about who, what, where and then pronounced "I want to go to the library with Griffin and Lucy!"

Griffin is 22.

Our dude is 22 today.  He is doing so so good.  We were able to visit him over the summer and check out his adorable apartment, cool mid-evil town (complete with an ancient wall surrounding the old city), see the church there where Bach wrote some of his important works on the organ, meet his best friend and enjoy some amazing German beers.  What a treat to see Griffin thriving and making a wonderful life for himself in Germany.  While we miss him so dearly, especially at the holidays and celebrations, we are so proud of him.  Being a single dude, there is not many pictures of him taken throughout the year so enjoy some pictures of our visit with him.  And a huge thank you to the man himself, for being willing to make his Mama happy by continuing this tradition.   Birthday Interview What activities/sports/clubs were you involved in this year? Lulu is a full on adult!

Woah.....our little baby is 18.  Mind BLOWN!  She is the most amazing, composed, intelligent, lovely, loving young women.  We truly treasure who she is and the path she is on.  The last year has been INTENSE for Lucy.  A study abroad class in England over the summer, living in a residential STEM school on a university campus while still being a high school student , participating in research projects both years, maintaining a 4.0+ GPA, PLUS applying to 10+ prestigious universities could push any kid to their breaking point.  Our Lucy just kept trucking....living the Gast family motto in such a dedicated way "BOOT AND RALLY".   She took care of business and there will be big and exciting decisions coming soon.  She is my child and my teacher, mine to care for and my best friend.  As John Prine says, "How lucky can one man get?" A devastating loss...the puppies

It is with immense sorrow that I share this with you. On Tuesday night, our friend came over and we spent some time playing with the puppies. We noticed that a few of them were lethargic, had diarrhea and were throwing up. We had recently changed their food and they had spent some time playing outside so we chalked it up to them feeling a little off from eating grass and the new food. Yesterday though, there was more diarrhea and they seemed more lethargic. Bruce and Griffin loaded them up and took them to the vet "to be on the safe side." There we were given devastating news. The puppies all had perseveres, an incredibly debilitating virus that is severely contagious to dogs. We were shocked with the news but after a quick discussion on the phone, were ready to cancel all plans for the next couple of weeks and commit to nursing each one back to health.
